Secure Documents server uses the standard Adobe Certified Document Services (CDS) to certify documents. HOD has the invention of the use of only one server certificate to certify and seal all the documents. Documents are certified after verifying the author's identity.

1- User login to the system from any internet browser then upload the document to be certified. The system converts the document to a PDF format and save it.

2- To certify the document, Secure Documents server needs to verify the user identity. This can be done by any of the following methods: simple password retype, HOD Biometric Signature or a smart card PKI.

3- After user verification process is done, the Secure Documents server certifies the document using the installed CDS certificate. The CDS certificate can be installed into a Hardware Security Module (HSM) or a USB token. 4- Then the certified document will be send to the appropriate entity and can be verified by only open it. Verification is done as following: When the document is opened a blue ribbon and an information bar displays at the top of the screen indicate that the document has not been altered in any way.
